Alternatiba 2018

We’ve been waiting for 5 years ! Alternatiba is back in Bayonne on October 6th and 7th 2018!

In 2013, the first Alternatiba was a touchstone that set wheels in motion. Since then, many have been asking for a new edition of the village of alternatives in Bayonne.

The 2018 edition is loaded with important issues on the climate and it will be held in the ancient centre of Bayonne. This will be an occasion for a wide popular festival, an open-air university, an alternative fair for practical and positive solutions, a friendly and open village to discover tomorrow’s world.

Edgar Morin

Edgar Morin is an internationally renowned sociologist and philosopher. Over the course of his career, he has been reflecting and writing on the possibilities of a different world and the ways to build it.

“We should not miss our aim: we need to launch a change of civilization, transform our interactions with nature, with others and with ourselves. We need to fight for citizenship, democracy, economical grounds but also for more poetical grounds. This struggle is held on all scales. It asks us to join our initiatives and devise a global approach of our transition onto a more sustainable, inclusive and fairer world. This is why I have made a commitment to support “Alternatiba Bayonne”. I appreciate both their understanding of the issues and the courage they put in their action. Mariama Diallo

Mariama Diallo will also be among us. Mariama Diallo lives in Senegal and her presence is significant to us both as an Anthropologist and an Alternatiba Dakar spokesperson. Her commitment shows how far Alternatiba Bayonne 2013 reached and highlights the major issues developing countries are facing due to global warming.

“Our survival and that of many other species is at stake. We are weakening those who are already vulnerable. In the South, people are constantly fearing extreme weather events that cause famines, migrations, diseases, large degradations in communities. International promises and conclusions sound like wishful thinking. What is there to do? The good news is that we still have a short window of opportunity. In Dakar as well as in Bayonne, the wind of change is blowing, and it’s gathering strength...”

Le dimanche, le village Alternatiba de Bayonne sera organisé autour d’une proposition forte de territoires en transition, basée sur la sobriété, la reconversion, l'éco-féminisme, l'économie circulaire, la relocalisation, l'autonomie, la diversité, la résilience, la solidarité et le partage. 9 espaces thématiques pour découvrir et expérimenter les alternatives concrètes au changement climatique, à la crise écologique, pour arpenter les chemins de la transition sociale et écologique.

Un processus participatif qui n'attend que toi !

Organisée par près de 1 000 bénévoles, cette édition extraordinaire accueillera 30 000 personnes dans une ambiance aussi bien engagée que festive.

Tout le monde peut participer à l'organisation d'Alternatiba : que tu sois porteuse ou porteur d'une ou plusieurs alternatives pour la transition sociale et écologique, ou une.e simple citoyen.ne motivé.e pour contribuer à un monde plus sobre, plus solidaire et soutenable, tu es bienvenu.e !
